Kharkov State Automobile & Highway Technical University KhSAHTU is one of the most successful universities in the Ukraine. Committed to close relationships with the business world and with a strong base in science and technology, the University has 4500 students. It is situated in the centre of the city.

        Educational resources of the University are the following:

        The University provides a leveled system of instruction (bachelor-engineer-master) in 8 directions and 18 specializations.

        Doctor's degrees (PhD and DSc) are recognized by specialized counsels available at the University. Postgraduate course is available in 24 specializations.

        Academic year starts on September 1st and is divided into two semesters each lasting 17 weeks. In summer senior students have a month practical training.

        Instruction at the University is provided in Russian and Ukrainian languages. The foreign students are allowed to choose the language of studying.

        Today 352 lectures demonstrate high level of teaching working at 30 departments of KhSAHTU, among them 49 professors and doctors of science, 18 honored educationalists of Ukraine, 225 associate professors.

        About 400 textbooks, manuals and monographs, more than 10,000 scientific articles have been prepared and published by the scientists of the University.

        The achievements of KhSAHTU scientific schools are well known abroad. For the last 30 years the University has been co-operating with the allied educational and scientific establishments in France, Poland, China, India, Nepal and other countries.

        KhSAHTU is included into a system of the transportation academy of Ukraine (TAU). North -Eastern Scientific centre of TAU functions on the basis of the University under the leadership of the rector academician Turenko A.N.

        KhSAHTU has its own printing base providing the publication of educational and methodical literature, students, post-graduates and young researchers have every opportunity to publish their scientific research work in the "Bulletin of KhSAHTU". The University offers students faculty and personnel the possibility to use the library fund free of charge. The amount of educational scientific literature and fiction exceeds 400000 volumes. The library of the University is equipped with modern means of automatic registration and search of literature.

    Educational Resources and Students Service

        About 70 lecture rooms and scientific laboratories, computer centre, 35 specialized classrooms installed with a variety of modern equipment and hardware are provided for students.

Satellite system and cable television are available for students as self-study facilities. The laboratories are equipped with modern automobiles, tractors, and road-building machines.

Students are housed in 6 University halls of residence (for 3,000 students), living one or two persons in a room. A student polyclinic is available. It is located in the city centre, not far from the main building of the University. 25 sport clubs function in KhSAHTU (such as football, volleyball, hockey, boxing, judo, gymnastics, acrobatics, wrestling, athletics and other ). The University students have access to gymnasiums, stadium, shooting-range. The sport complex with a swimming-pool is under construction.

The humanitarian centre of the University has a wide range of cultural activities such as exhibitions of fine arts, meetings with writers, artists, poets.
